Mrs. Thomas - Ways We Connect With Eachother

Mrs. Thomas came today and talked with the kiddos about communication, thoughts and feelings, and tools we can use to help our minds.

We learned about these Tools of the Mind:
1. Self Respect - how do I see myself and treat myself
2. Undivided Attention - putting all of our senses on one object/person
3. Concentration - putting all of our attention on one thing & holding it there
4. Imagination - being able to see something not in your reality. "If you can imagine it, you can make it!"
5. Visualization - creating a picture in your mind, and you can feel it. "Practicing in your mind!"
6. Memory - remembering what already happened - staying in the moment so you can remember later on.
7. Listening - connecting with others (outer communication) and connecting to self (inner communication)
*Focusing/Paying Attention*

Today we used the tool of LISTENING, outer communication, with several activities. Check out the pictures!

Activity # 1:
Color Activity
Mrs. Thomas was thinking of a color while looking at it, and the kiddos had to connect with her to write down the color she was thinking of. This is to see how you connect with one another mind to mind.

Activity # 2:
Candy Activity
The kids had to sit back to back. One student created an object and gave directions while they did. The other student had to build the same creation using the step by step directions. There was NO looking!!! Then, they traded who was giving instructions and who was receiving and listening. Mrs. Thomas talked to them about being a clear communicator.

Clear Communication = Less Misunderstanding

Thanks, Mrs. Thomas!!!! What a very exciting and fun activity!
