Weekly Reading Focus - Visualizing

Our Minilesson focus this week is on visualizing while you read, and why good readers do visualize.  For our Minilesson, I read the book "Have You Seen Bugs", and the students visualized the different bugs I read about.  Then, they did an independent activity using the poem " My Neighbor's Dog is Purple".  They had to read the poem, and then draw a picture in their journals of what they visualized.  Check out the poem below, and then some journal pics on the next post.  :) Ask your child tonight what was funny about the end (covered up) of this poem.  I showed them after!  :)
